The purpose of this requirement for Honors Graduation is to encourage students to be active and engaged members of their community and to address important community issues. Therefore, it is important for students who are unsure of their community service activity to consult with their School Counselor.ĮCHS encourages students who are interested in graduating with Honors to volunteer more than the 50 hour minimum requirement. However, it is impossible to develop a list of acceptable and unacceptable activities that is all inclusive. To these ends, activities which qualify as community service that may be recorded at ECHS have become more explicit. Service can unite neighbors, mobilize volunteers and encourage a lifelong ethic of public participation, and is best performed in conjunction with a reputable public service organization. Then, organizers do not have to spend as much time on calculating volunteer hours or pulling reports.Community Service is defined as volunteer service beyond the traditional classroom that fosters civic and social responsibility for the benefit of the community that is neither paid for, graded, nor punitive. They allow volunteers to volunteer and easily help their organizers out by logging their hours. Organizers either verify volunteer attendance within Track It Forward OR volunteers go into Track It Forward and log their hours (with a pre-filled event hour log option).īoth the Digital Sign In Sheet and The Check In Kiosk can function as a Community service hours sheet or a volunteer sign-in sheet. Using The Check-In Kiosk as a community service hour log sheet is a great way to check volunteers in and out of an event, meeting, or volunteer shift and track their time. The Check-In Kiosk is for better volunteer programs that might not plan in advance, or have a larger volunteer base with many one-time or sporadic volunteers. Two Different Community Service Hours Sheets And, if volunteers are used to doing this action - of signing in and out of volunteer events, or filling out a sheet for their volunteer and community service hours - then volunteer programs should be making the most out of this! What’s important is that volunteers naturally become accustomed to signing in and out on a volunteer sign-in sheet or through a community service hour log sheet. But, volunteers usually don’t know why they are important, and that’s okay! Almost all volunteer programs and volunteers have heard of a community service hour log sheet or even a volunteer sign-in sheet.
